Two research teams from the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy at the University of Valencia have received funding from the Generalitat Valenciana under the Prometeo programme, which supports research groups of excellence.
The selected projects are the only two in the field of Psychology to have received funding in this call across the Valencian Community. This achievement recognises the quality and relevance of the research conducted at the Faculty.
The first project is led by Marisol Lila and Enrique Gracia, professors in the Department of Social Psychology, and is entitled Targeted prevention of intimate partner violence against women: Neuro-psychobiological mechanisms, effective perpetrator interventions, and place-based policy. The research will address the prevention of intimate partner violence against women by studying its neuropsychobiological mechanisms, evaluating interventions targeting perpetrators, and developing prevention policies adapted to the characteristics of different social and territorial contexts.
The second project is led by Rosa Baños, professor in the Department of Personality, Assessment and Psychological Treatments, and is entitled PERSPICERE: De la comprensión del bienestar a microintervenciones personalizadas para impulsar la salud mental en momentos de transición vital. Its aim is to advance the understanding of psychological well-being and to develop personalised micro-interventions that help promote mental health during particularly significant periods of change and life transition.
The awarding of these two grants recognises the scientific track record, quality and impact of both research teams. It also strengthens the position of the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy as a leading centre in two areas of particular social relevance: the promotion of mental health and the prevention of violence against women.
