This workshop only can be realised during the second four-month period

Healing remedies have been used throughout the history of human evolution. The first remedies date from the Neolithic, where the active principles began to be used instinctively. However, as the knowledge and study of these progressed, their use has been made more empirically. The nineteenth century was the golden century for the development of medicines as we know them today, being produced on a small scale in pharmacies and later (twentieth century) on a large scale at an industrial level. Today there are many different preparations such as syrups, creams, aerosols, tablets, capsules, suppositories, single-dose sachets, which can be manufactured on a small scale and, in fact, in many pharmacies they continue to be manufactured. In this workshop, students will learn to prepare a pharmaceutical formula (syrup, capsule or ointment) while learning new concepts about medicines.

Objectives:
-    To know what happens to the medicine inside the body. We will give answers to questions such as "does the medicine know where it should go?".
-    To elaborate a pharmaceutical form (placebo) on a small scale, using laboratory equipment and working appropriately.

The workshop will be taught by 3 professors from the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology and Parasitology: Lucía Hipólito Cubedo, Ana Melero Zaera and María José Cano Cebrián.

Target audience: The workshop can be adapted to any educational level, from preschool to baccalaureate.
Maximum number of attendees  25-30 who will be divided into teams of 4
Place:  At the educational center
