The Stat Wars project was born in Madrid in 2014 during the European Researchers' Night, devised by the professor and researcher Rosa Lillo. Thanks to the great acceptance that it had, the National Biostatistics Network BIOSTATNET decided to take it to all of Spain through its nodes, among which is the Valencia-VaBar node that is based at the University of Valencia.
The "Stat Wars" workshop, promoted by the National Biostatistics Network BIOSTATNET and financed by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), aims to bring probability, statistics and data science to the classrooms of secondary schools and high school, showing some of its most outstanding applications and promoting the critical sense of the student body. We have materials adapted to different educational levels with which, in a fun and entertaining way, we teach the importance of probabilistic language and how statistics is the science that we find in all sciences and, above all, data science.
Target audience: | From Primary Education 4th grade to Baccalaureate |
Maximum number of attendees: | Groups of 20/40 people, for larger sessions there is also material but less interactive |
Place: | Consult possibilities |
In the Stat wars - Valencia team we have Professors Emilia López Iñesta (Department of Mathematics Didactics) and Anabel Forte Deltell (Department of Statistics and Operations Research) and Professor David V. Conesa Guillen (Department of Statistics and Research operational).
