Aim: to evaluate the presence of microorganisms in our body and in the environment.

The practical workshop consists of three activities:
1)    search for microorganisms in different parts of the body, especially on the hands
2)   detection of the presence of microorganisms in our clothes or shoes
3)    isolation of microorganisms present in the air as well as on different surfaces and locations of the school.

Before carrying out the practice, a dossier will be sent to the centre to be distributed to the students who will do the workshop. On the first day there will be a short PowerPoint projection to present the activity and explain the way in which the experiments will be carried out. Afterwards, the activities will take place, some individually and others in pairs.

Target audience: Adaptable to different levels from Primary School 5th grade to Baccalaureate 1st grade
Maximum number of attendees:  20
Place: In the educational centre, a computer and a projector are required in the classroom
Duration  1h 30m - This workshop will be taught over 2 days (in the first one different samples will be taken and in the second the results will be analysed)

The activity starts with a 15-20 minute on-screen presentation. The key points of the workshop are a) to verify that the presence of microorganisms in our environment is ubiquitous and b) to reinforce the need to wash hands as a basic method to reduce the transmission of infectious diseases.
