The Teacher Training Faculty of the University of Valencia hosted a strategic meeting with experts from the nine FORTHEM Alliance universities from 26 to 28 May 2025.

The primary objective of the meeting was to evaluate the outcomes of its 2024 and 2025 Summer Schools, to examine regional educational requirements, and to establish a strategic course for future initiatives. The gathering brought together key stakeholders from across the alliance's network to reflect on successes, address challenges, and align efforts toward strengthening international collaboration in teacher education.

A key highlight of the meeting was the comprehensive review of the Summer Schools organized over the past two years. Participants discussed the results and impact of these training programs, shared insights into operational challenges, and proposed improvements for upcoming editions.
Central to the discussions was the strategic question: “How can we support those who educate future citizens?” This guiding theme framed the exploration of teacher mobility and international training,

The meeting also focused on the specific needs of regional schools, particularly in the areas of mobility and access to international teacher development opportunities. Enhanced collaboration with schools across FORTHEM regions was identified as a priority to ensure locally grounded yet globally relevant training experiences.
Lessons learned, success factors, and conditions for impactful training were openly shared, helping to shape a roadmap for future efforts. One key point was the necessity of increasing teacher mobility within the FORTHEM universities to foster cross-cultural exchange and innovation in pedagogy.

Additionally, the group explored potential third-party funding to support these initiatives and sustain long-term development goals. A review of ongoing FORTHEM activities served as a backdrop for refining strategies and adjusting the alliance’s direction in response to emerging needs.

As the meeting concluded, participants reaffirmed their commitment to keep promoting collaborative progress and innovation in teacher education.
