Friday 14 October 2016, at 17:30, the conference “2016, Silk Road Year for Tourism” will take place at the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication (Boardroom, 1st floor). It will be given by Andrea Pappier from Confucius Institute of the National University of La Plata.
In the last twenty years, tourism has become a culture industry that stands out as one of the most important economic activities developing employment and resources. Indeed, 2017 was already declared “International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development” by the United Nations.
Within this framework, “the Silk Road” is a particular case study of international culture tourism. Even though it had been boosted since the 1990s by the UNESCO and the WTO (World Tourism Organisation), it has gained new boost in the last years.
In this conference, backgrounds and joint projects between both organisations and their most recent development plans for Silk Road Tourism will be presented. The conference will focus on this year 2016 and the actions carried out in particular in China and Spain.
