The safeguard cultural legacy in the Valencian Community it is a priory objective in the Valencian Government. That is why, under the Act 5/1999 of 9th of April, the IVC+R was created as a public entity under private law in accordance with the Valencian Government.

Its activities began in 2005, becoming the first management agency in conservation and restoration area in the Valencian Community. The IVC+R, appointed to the Department of Culture, through the General Direction responsible of the Cultural Heritage area. 

In accordance with the Decree 7/2012 of 8th of October, since the 1st od January 2013 the Valencian Institute for the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Goods (IVC+R) becomes the Sub-directorate of Conservation, Restoration and Research IVC+R of CulturArts Generalitat
