The general secretary of Silk Road university network visits Universitat de València

Sungdon Hwang has met with Internationalisation and Cooperation Principal and Vice-principal to analyse the activities related to the Silk Route that will be developed at Universitat de València and also to prepare the second general assembly about this university union.

Dr. Hwang, professor of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul and Secretary of Silk Road University Network (SUN) has visited Universitat de València, as well as the city, which also belongs to the cities that are developing activities around the historic Silk Road that joined orient and western commercially and culturally.

He has met with Internationalisation and Cooperation Principal and Vice-principal of Universitat de València, Dr. Esteban Morcillo and Dr. Guillermo Palao, in order to analyse the wide range of activities that Universitat de València will conduct throughout 2016 in coordination with the other institutions that form the Silk Route consortium in Valencia.

Simultaneously, the SUN current situation and future research lines, which will set up the second general assembly of this inter-university organisation, have been analysed. Universitat de València will be incorporated as full member of this university alliance.

Silk Road University Network (SUN), which search for the restoration of the enormous historical value of the Silk Road, promoting education, investigation and cultural dimension through exchange activities and institutional collaboration, works in four different areas: dean network (UPSUN) for the institutional area, research and training dimension, social and student dimension through network student union (USSUN) and music through Silkroad programme.

Doctor Hwang has possitively valued this visit and the iniciative of the University of Valencia; an historical, modern and internationalized institution that projects the identity of Valencian society to the world from researching and teaching areas as well as the creation and dissemination of culture, science and knowledge transfer.

Doctor Hwang, current Secretary General of SUN, works as a professor in the Department of Public Administration at the University of Hankuk, Seoul, which is focused on international studies. He has been dean of the Faculty of Political Science, Government and Communication and director of the Social Science institute, as well as of the Department of Public Administration.

Doctor from the University of Minnesota (USA), Professor Hwang has developed a wide range of academic activity. He aslo has a wide experience working for the Korean government in the areas of governmental reform and welfare politics.
