The University of Valencia hosts this Monday, 20 May, the Sixth Conference CONTD-Contents for the Digital TV, which will bring together leading experts, scholars and audiovisual professionals to discuss and debate how the economic crisis is affecting the audiovisual sector, especially television. The session can be followed live from the address: http://147.156.205.24/contd2013

The deep economic crisis we find ourselves in since a few years is transforming many industries, including the audiovisual one. It is changing the business model, but also the way in which audiovisual content is produced and consumed. For some, that means the collapse of a cultural industry which can not maintain the quality standards achieved or the jobs which it relied on. For others, this time needs to be seen as an opportunity to think audiovisual content from another point of view, with the emergence of new forms of financing and finding new stories to tell or retell past stories differently.

The television of the crisis, therefore, with all that it entails, will be the central piece of the 6th CONTD Conference, organised by the Master's Degree in Audiovisual Contents and Formats, which will be inaugurated by the the principal of the University of Valencia, Esteban Morcillo, on 20 May at 9:30 in the auditorium of La Nau building. The event will also count on the participation of Miguel Angel Oliver, a member of the Board of the Academy of Television, and Miquel French, director of the conference.

A series of lectures, roundtables and panels have been prepared, that allow us to reflect and discuss the present, full of uncertainty, which the audiovisual sector is living through in both the Spanish State and in a European context. To that end, we will have the presence of experts, academics and renowned professionals such as Enrique Bustamante (Universidad Complutense), Giacomo Mazzone (European Broadcasting Union), Enrique Laucirica (FORTA), Francesc Escribano (Minoria Absoluta), Alfonso Nasarre (RTVE), Ramón Campos (Bambú Producciones), José Antonio Antón (Atresmedia TV), Manuel Serrano (New Atlantis), Jordi Bosch (Endemol), Ximo Pérez (PAV), Teresa Blasco (RTVV), Francesc Pou (TV3), among others .

Moreover, as usual in the conference, the students of the Master's in Audiovisual Formats Contents will present their projects for new formats in a pitching session in front of a selection of heads of major TV and producer organizations. And as in previous editions, the 6th CONTD Conference will also become a scientific congress. In this regard, there will be presentations of papers from scholars and experts on issues related to the central theme of these.

A new feature this year is that all sessions will take place at La Nau, the historic building (C / Universitat, 2), both in terms of the plenary sessions, to be held in the Aula Magna of the University of Valencia, as for their papers, to be made in several rooms prepared for the occasion.
