The aim of the Degree in Speech Therapy is to provide students with the theoretical and practical training needed in order to provide solutions to different problems linked with the voice, hearing, speech and language (both oral and written). In order to accomplish this objective, students acquire skills while learning about diverse aspects of biology, medicine, psychology, linguistics, pedagogy, etc.
This degree allows graduates to work as speech therapists.
Nowadays, speech therapists can only access work places in the educational system if they have a supplementary qualification. Nevertheless, via different agreements and work modalities, they can carry out different tasks related with the world of teaching.
Even though speech therapy is often associated with the preschool stage, it is a discipline that covers all of the language-related problems that people can suffer throughout their whole lives, such as those derived from neurogenerative processes, accidents, psychiatric illnesses, etc.
