The auditorium of the Cultural Centre La Nau of the University of Valencia has hosted a tribute day to filmmaker Llorenç Soler, with the presentation of a documentary and a book, which analyzes the intense work of this author. The event began with the screening of the documentary ''Los Náufragos de la casa quebrada' (2011. 39min. B&W/Color), the latest production by this author.
The film takes place in Soria, where there is a block of 60 social houses built in the 50s, owned by the City, and which are now badly deteriorated. The neighbors have been asked to leave these houses, because the Consistory of the city has other urban projects, possibly speculatory, for these lands. Three families of elder age have become strong in the last three houses and are reluctant to abandon, causing intractable conflict between the two sides.
Afterwards was presented the book 'La mirada comprometida. Llorenç Soler', coordinated by Miquel Francés, in a panel discussion attended by professors of the University of Valencia, Josep Gavaldà, Miquel Francés, José Antonio Hurtado, Chief of IVAC-La Filmoteca programming as well as Llorenç Soler. The book discusses the rich and intense filmmaker's work, from the most critical and filmic rigor.
That is why a broad view of his "biofilmography" is addressed in order to get a perspective of the whole of his work, with the aim that this audiovisual heritage be preserved over time. Thus, the relevant film libraries and academies of film or television may properly archive his work and honor the restless and committed Llorenç, who has known how to approach us to the representation of other social realities.
