Opening Conference Master’s Degree in Cultural Heritage: Identification, Analysis and Management by Philippe BÉLAVAL

The opening conference of the Master’s degree in Cultural Heritage: Identification, Analysis and Management by Philippe BÉLAVAL, chairperson of the Centre des monuments nationaux de France, entitled: “Challenges for the heritage in the contemporary world: the French example” will take place in the Classroom F.3.4 at the Faculty of Geography and History of the Universitat de València the next 20 October at 18:00.

Philippe Bélaval was born in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne). He studied Public law and political science, since 1984 has held various positions in the French civil service: Auditor (1979), Master of requests (1984) to the State Council, Technical Advisor ( (1983-1984), Project Manager (1984-1986) from Henri Emmanuelli (Secretary of State for the Budget and Consumer Affairs), Deputy Director (1988-1989) and Director (1989-1990) of the cabinet Michel Durafour (Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform), Director General of the National Theatre of the Paris Opera (1990-92), Director General of the National Library of France (BNF) (1994- 98), Director Archives of France at the Ministry of Culture and Communication (1998-2000), President of the Bordeaux Appeal Administrative Courts (2001-04) and Versailles (2004-08), Head of the Permanent Mission Inspection Administrative Courts (2008-10), Director General of heritage at the Ministry of Culture and Communication (2010-12), and currently holds the position of Chairman of the Centre for National Monuments (CMN) of France.
