The Universitat de València, among the 100 best European universities and the third at State level in the ranking of Taiwan

The annual ranking of the University of Taiwan, which measures the performance of scientific publications, places the Universitat de València in the 233rd position at world-wide scale, the 92nd in the European area, the 3rd in Spain and the 1st in the Valencian Community. The academic institution highlights in Agricultural Sciences, which is in the 65th at world-wide level and the 19th in Europe; in Quemistry (112th at world-wide level and the 2nd of the State); and in Physics (128th of the world and 2nd in Spain). In Natural Sciences, the Universitat, which is placed in the 3rd position in Spain, is the 134th in the world and the 48th in Europe.

The National Taiwan University (NTU) has published its National University Ranking (NTU Ranking) of 2016, which analyses the productivity and impact of excellence in research of the scientific publications of the 500 best universities in the world.

In the classification of this year, the Universitat de València is placed in the 3rd position in Spain taking into account the performance of the scientific publications, for the third consecutive year, and it is placed among the 100 best universities in the world in the area of Agricultural Sciences, where it obtains the 65th position. On this area it is the 19th best university at European level and the 2nd at national level. 

The global classification obtained consolidates the Universitat de València, for the fourth consecutive year, among the 100 best institutions at European level, among the 250 best institutions in the world, the 3rd best Spanish university and the 1st in the Valencian University System.

In Quemistry, the institution is placed in the 112th position in the world-wide ranking, and at European and State level it achieves the 24th and 2nd positions, respectively. In Physics, the Universitat de València is the 128th in the world, the 48th at European level and the 2nd at State level. In the area of Natural Sciences, the Universitat de València is the 134th in the world, the 48th in Europe and the 3rd in Spain.

In this ranking, the Universitat de València also stands out among the 100 best European institutions in Pharmacology and Toxicology, being the 94th at European level and the 4th in Spain, and in Electronic Engineering it is the 70th in Europe. 

The classification system analyses a series of bibliometric indicators based on the database ESI (Essential Science Indicators). In general terms, the data of the last 11 years are analysed and a score distributed in the following way is given: a 25% for productivity in investigation, a 35% for the impact of the investigation and a 40% for the investigation of excellence.

The international ranking is leaded by the universities of Harvard, Standford, John Hopkins, Toronto and, in the 5th position, the University of Oxford, the first European institution that appears in the ranking.
