Universitat de València’s cultural centre, La Nau, is hosting from 16 to 19 July the first edition of a percussion festival in Valencia: PERCUTE VALENCIA 12. This event is organized by AMORES Grup de Percussió and has the collaboration of Universitat de València and Institut Valencià de la Música (IVM). This festival stems from the exchange among the most representative percussion bands in Spain. The most important bands have joined to support the contemporary percussion and show it the public through several concerts.
Antonio Ariño, Vice-principal for Culture, Rosa Cardón, coordinator of the Jove Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana (representing the Instituto Valenciano de la Música), Pau Ballester and Jesús Salvador, members of AMORES Grup de Percussió, have attended the press conference.
The idea of this festival stems from the cooperation of several perscussion bands in Spain which have decided to create the FIP, Festival Internacional de Percusión. This festival takes place at each of the bands’ regions. In Valencia, the name of the festival is PERCUTE VALENCIA 12. It has the collaboration of the entities before mentioned and also INAEM (Instituto Nacional de las Artes Escénicas y Música). The festival is celebrated in Pontevedra, Madrid, Zaragoza and Tenerife as well.
The festival is taking place from 16th to 19th July at Universitat de Valéncia’s cultural centre, La Nau (most of the event in Sala Matilde Salvador). Entrance is free but invitation is required. It can be collected from 20:45 at the reception.
Every day the festival is starting at 21:45 with the performances of TALLER DE ARTE SONORO DE FERRER-MOLINA, who is an artist, music critic and choir director. Then, at 22:00, the young interpreters, THE NEXT GENERATION, are playing.
