Researchers Joan Sanchis and Francesc Felipe attended a conference focused on analysing the impact of artificial intelligence, algorithmic management and digital platforms on the labour market, held on 4–5 March 2026.
The event brought together researchers, institutional representatives and international experts to discuss the social, economic and regulatory challenges arising from the digital transformation of work.
During the first day, several sessions addressed new forms of employment and the platform economy. One of the highlighted discussions was the panel “Platforms and inequality: the new labour market in dispute”, which explored how digital platforms are reshaping labour conditions and labour market structures.
Another prominent session focused on generative artificial intelligence and the cultural sector, examining the potential effects of these technologies on cultural production and on the working conditions of creative professionals.
The second day focused particularly on algorithmic governance and the role of artificial intelligence in reshaping work. Among the keynote sessions was a presentation on the future of AI and work by Nick Srnicek (King’s College London).
The programme also included the roundtable “Testing bias: gender and AI in the world of work”, which discussed potential gender inequalities linked to the use of algorithmic systems and artificial intelligence in labour-related decision-making.
The participation of Joan Sanchis and Francesc Felipe, researchers affiliated with Econcult (University of Valencia), is part of the research activities carried out within the AISECRETT European project, which analyses the economic, social and institutional impacts of artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
