
The final MESOC event organised by the Econcult team is about to start. With the active participation of Sendy Ghirardi, Pau Rausell, Jordi Sanjuán, Francesco Molinari, Raul Abeledo and Borja Abril. Econcult is part of this organising team. In addition to all this, there will be various collaborators with a great curriculum, which we will now present:
Baptiste Caramiaux
He will participate in the final MESOC event to explore the use of artificial intelligence for cultural policies.
He is a researcher at the CNRS - Centre national de la recherche scientifique and a member of the Institute for Intelligent Systems and Robotics (ISIR) at the Sorbonne Université.
His research focuses on the integration of machine learning systems in communities of practice, particularly in the creative, cultural and medical sectors. He holds a PhD in computational music from Sorbonne Université and IRCAM.
He has worked as a research fellow at Goldsmiths, University of London and as a Marie Skoldowska-Curie research fellow at McGill University.
Baptiste Caramiaux is also a consultant for the start-up Mogees Ltd and a member of the Berlin-based artist collective Fronte Vacuo.
Dave O'Brien
He is Professor of Cultural and Creative Industries at the University of Sheffield. He is a co-investigator on the Arts and Humanities Research Council's Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre (AHRC PEC) and the Impact of COVID-19 on the Cultural Sector research project.
He has published extensively on inequality in the cultural sector, including his latest book Culture Is Bad for You, co-authored with Dr Mark Taylor and Dr Orian Brook, and the Creative Majority report on what works to support diversity in the creative industries, published by the All Party Parliamentary Group for Creative Diversity.
Edvin Liverić-Bassani
He is a producer, actor, director and teacher. He graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. He was a member of: Croatian National Theatre in Varaždin, Zagreb Youth Theatre (ZKM), Croatian Institute of Movement and Dance (HIPP), Street Art Festival - Poreč (Artistic Director) and TRAFIK Theatre. He is a Croatian representative at Aerowaves and a member of the Croatian Society of Film Workers (HDFD). He is one of the founders of the Pan Adria Network.
The Croatian Cultural Centre in Rijeka, Croatia (HKD) has been a production and distribution centre since 2021 for the "Springback Ringside" project founded by the Aerowaves dance network. This virtual reality initiative was also selected in 2021 by Perform Europe, an EU-funded project that aims to rethink the presentation of cross-border performing arts in a more inclusive, sustainable and balanced way.
Director of International Cooperation at Friche la Belle de Mai will participate in one of the panel discussions at our final event to discuss the potential of MESOC's results for cultural operators, together with Kornelia Kiss from Culture Action Europe and Edvin Liverić-Bassani, Director of the Croatian Cultural Centre Rijeka.
Eva Riccio is developing international partnerships for capacity building in urban regeneration and participatory cultural projects thanks to European funds (H2020, Europe Creative, Erasmus +) and coordinates missions to disseminate the experience of La Friche with communities of practitioners to create new synergies in which European cooperation is a catalyst. She made her experience coordinating between France and Italy.
Santiago Alfaro Rotondo
He is a sociologist and lecturer at the School of Government and Public Policy of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
His areas of research include cultural policies, ethnic inequalities and the economics of cultural and creative industries. He has also been Programme Officer for Indigenous Rights and Interculturality at Oxfam America, Deputy Manager of Performing Arts and Cultural Industries at the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, Head of the Office of Research Evaluation at the PUCP and General Director of Cultural Industries and Arts at the Peruvian Ministry of Culture.
Julie Hervé
Her experience within Eurocities, the largest European network of major cities, will allow us to exchange on what MESOC can offer to policy makers.
She is specialised in local cultural policies and manages Eurocities' activities on culture and cultural heritage, including capacity building activities on culture for cities. She led EU-funded initiatives such as "Culture for Cities and Regions" and Cultural Heritage in Action, analysing strategic initiatives in more than 200 cities and regions across Europe. Julie is a member of the European Commission's expert group on cultural heritage and represents Eurocities in the Urban Agenda Partnership on culture and cultural heritage.
Susanne Janssen
He has published extensively on the role of cultural mediators in the creation, dissemination and valuation of arts and culture; transnational changes, continuities and differences in the classification of culture; the social and cultural significance of popular musical heritage; and processes, structures and impacts of cultural globalisation. His ongoing research projects focus on the consequences of increased diversity and digitisation for agents, institutions, structures, processes and practices in the fields of media, culture, education and politics.
On 10 March he will participate in the exchange with MESOC and Uncharted. This dialogue will be an opportunity to share the complementary knowledge generated by these three European projects funded by the same Horizon 2020 call.
