
On March 5, 2025, the program Cadena de Valor, broadcast by À Punt, addressed the economic impact of museums in the Valencian Community. In this edition, the participation of Pau Rausell, director of Econcult, the Research Unit in Economics of Culture and Tourism of the University of Valencia, stood out, who analyzed the key role of museum spaces in the economic and social development of the territory.
Along with Rausell, Josep Albert Cortés, managing director of the CV MARQ Foundation, and the journalist specialized in culture, Susana Golf, also participated. Throughout the program, experts debated the influence of museums beyond their cultural function, exploring their ability to boost the local economy, generate employment and attract tourism.
During his speech, Pau Rausell highlighted that museums not only preserve cultural heritage, but also function as economic engines and social innovation. The cultural economist also highlighted the need to develop new strategies to enhance the economic sustainability of these spaces. According to their studies, museums can become fundamental actors for urban regeneration and social cohesion, if they are properly integrated into local development policies.
The conversation also touched on how technology and digitalization can improve the visitor experience and expand the reach of museums. In this sense, the importance of collaboration between cultural institutions, public administrations and the private sector was highlighted to guarantee the sustainable growth of these spaces.
