The Spanish Network for Sustainable Development has promoted the publication “Culture in sustainable development initiatives” in which Professor Raul Abeledo has been part of the evaluation committee.

REDS-SDSN Spain promotes the visibility and evidence of the contributions of culture in achieving the goals and objectives of the 2030 Agenda. Over the past few years, from the hand of the then Secretary of State for the 2030 Agenda, current Directorate General of Agenda 2030 of the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030, An exercise has been made in transferring the Agenda to the field of cultural practice, thus bringing the message of sustainable development into a language specific to the culture.

There are more and more cultural agents who, aware of the transcendental role that they play in the transmission of values, generation of new narratives and transformations, incorporate the sustainability approach in their work. But in this same line of ideas, it is also important and even complementary to awaken the awareness and sensitivity regarding the potential and presence of culture, actors from outside the cultural sector who work for the achievement of development sustainable, focused on economic, social or environmental challenges.
