There is not a single pilota. Each of them is adapted to the singular necessities of the modality and the level of the pilotaris.

  • Pilota de vaqueta is an iconic ball of the sport. An artisan jewel named after the material it is made of. Regulations specify its diameter at 42 mm and its weight between 42 and 48 gramms. Used in escala i corda, raspall and galotxa.
  • Pilota de badana is used in ratlles, galotxa and street. They are less hard and faster, perfect for common players. Made of ripen sheep or lamb skin wrapped in cloth. Nowadays, people use synthetic skin. The maximum weight is 42 gramms. Fare modality uses a slightly larger ball of 5 gramms and 5 cm in diameter.
  • Pilota de tec is exclusively used in Valencian frontó. Made of goat skin and painted white (48-50 gramms and 5 cm in diameter).
  • Pilota grossa gives its name to its modality, weighting 125 gramms, with a diameter of 7 centimeters and a 25 cm circumference. Its core is made of cork, cloth and skin.
  • Other pilotes: There exist other balls like pilota de màdel or pilota de one ball; pilota de frare, pilota de coma or pilota d'esponja (for beginners). Anyone can create their own pilota using plastic, scissors, wool and tape.
