What is TOEFL and what is it used for?

How long is the TOEFL iBT?

The total test takes about 2 hours.

How is the TOEFL scored?

The TOEFL is scored on a scale of 0 to 120 points, with specific scores for each section.

For how long are TOEFL scores valid?

TOEFL scores are valid for two years after the date of the exam.

How many times can I take the TOEFL?

You can take the TOEFL as many times as you wish, but not more than once in a 3-day period.

How do I prepare for the TOEFL?

Yes, you can cancel your score at the end of the exam if you decide that you do not want the institutions to be informed. This must be done before viewing your score.

How are TOEFL scores sent to institutions?

Your test fee includes up to four free official TOEFL score reports to be sent to the institutions, agencies or other recipients that you select before you take the test. Each additional scoring report comes at an additional cost.

How long does it take to receive TOEFL scores?

Scores are sent electronically to institutions approximately 10 days after the test date.
