The Responsible Basket is an initiative of the CEDAT foundation, with the support, at the UV, of the Vice-Rectorate for Sustainability, Cooperation and Healthy Life. Its main objectives are: to promote a model of responsible consumption that gives women the possibility of accessing local and seasonal organic food, and to integrate people with disabilities into the labor market, contributing to the construction of a more supportive and committed society.
Specifically, the initiative allows the university community to order and receive baskets of organic products in offices and collection points, distributed by people from the CEDAT Special Occupation Center.
The operation of the proposal is simple. First, customers register on the Cistella website, https://ir.uv.es/mz4RkGL. Then, they place the order (there are different types of boxes), and indicate the place of delivery. The following Wednesday they receive the delivery and payment is made through the platform with a credit card.
The bags used inside the baskets to transport the products have been made by women at risk of exclusion based on leftover scraps from textile factories, thanks to the “Mil-una” project of the ISOC Professional Training Center in Sagunto. The farmers take the orders to the CEDAT Foundation, which takes care of the last mile by making deliveries in recycled and ergonomically designed carts.
The staff with functional diversity of the Special Occupation Center is in charge, among other tasks, of making these deliveries to campus. The product is served in boxes, and inside them are the cloth bags that customers take with them with the products and for which they pay a deposit of 5 euros.
We encourage you to place an order and take advantage of the benefits of healthy and sustainable food while supporting an inclusive social initiative.
