Description of research activity:

The Research Group in the Study of the Modulation of the AhR Pathway is made up of regular and clinical researchers from the University of Valencia and the La Fe University and Polytechnic Hospital. Our purpose is to shed light on the role of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) pathway in physiological and pathophysiological conditions such as cancer, diabetic retinopathy, neonatal sepsis, necrotising enterocolitis and vascular disorders, among others. This could open lines of study focused on treating alterations with the AhR pathway and identifying new therapeutic targets. In addition, we focus on the search for endogenous or exogenous ligands, as well as microbiota-derived metabolites, which are capable of modulating the AhR pathway to improve pathophysiological conditions.

Scientific-technical goals:

Research lines:
  • Study of the modulation of the AhR pathway.Study of the modulation of the AhR pathway through the identification of endogenous ligands or with the use of nutritional supplements that provide ligands through diet or that result from the metabolism of the microbiota to improve and treat pathologies.
  • Elucidate the role of the AhR pathway in diseases.Elucidate the role of the AhR pathway in diseases such as cancer, diabetic retinopathy, neonatal sepsis, necrotising enterocolitis and vascular disorders, among others, to understand the biological processes involved and find new therapeutic strategies.
