The consolidation of efficient and sustainable transport systems plays a fundamental role in the well-being and competitiveness of our societies: they determine territorial connectivity and geographical mobility, both for individuals ¿ thereby providing access to employment, educational, and leisure opportunities ¿ and for goods, where it constitutes an essential pillar for the efficient exchange of goods and our competitiveness in the current global environment. However, transport activity generates significant negative external effects, and it also requires substantial resources and public intervention for the construction, management, and maintenance of its infrastructure. The Research Group on Transport Economics and Policies is created with the goal of organizing under a single structure the research that its members have been conducting in the field of transport economics.
- Identificar las causas subyacentes de los problemas del transporte y proponer recomendaciones de politica para abordarlos de manera efectiva
- Transport demand modeling.Development of demand models that allow the identification of determinants of transport choices in both the passenger and freight sectors and enable predictions to be made for different policy scenarios.
- Resilience of transport chains.Identify the key factors of resilience in the logistics function and create indicators to monitor its vulnerability to potential disruptions.
- Maritime and port economics.Analysis of the maritime-port industry and its impact on competitiveness in global markets, identifying the challenges facing the sector and possible solutions and strategies to address these challenges.
