El cant de la Sibil•la will be performed this Friday at 19:30 in the Cathedral of Valencia, with the interpretation of Cor de la Generalitat Valenciana, and Ministrers Capella group, led by Carles Magraner. Admission is free. The performance is linked to an interdisciplinary study day on this paraliturgical drama, which was held on 14 November in La Nau of the University of Valencia.
The performance was made possible thanks to the collaboration between different institutions, and has had the best professionals and experts.
'El cant de la Sibil·la' ceased to be represented in Valencia after the Council of Trent, and was preserved only in the cities of Mallorca and Alghero (Sardinia). This is one of the most significant performances around the birth of Christ, planted by James I after the conquest of Valencia.
The instruments with which to interpret are replicas of angels musicians of the high altar frescoes of the Cathedral of Valencia.
'El Cant de la Sibil·la ' will start at 19:00 with a Touch of Matins interpreted by the bell ringers of the Cathedral of Valencia.
In the first part of the concert will be interpreted Angelica Music, composed by two Cantigas of Santa Maria linked to the Valencia of the thirteenth century. With the second part starts itself 'El cant de la Sibil·la', which corresponds to the Valencian version according to the Consueta of 1527. The role of the Sibil·la will be interpreted by the child Alejandro Espina, from the Escolanía de la Real Basílica de la Mare de Déu dels Desemparats.
Also, the theatre group Assaig and the Friends of Corpus construed under the management of the responsible of the Theatre Club of the University of Valencia, Pep Sanchis, the sermon of the prophets, a paliturgical drama of the Christmas cycle.
