
Today, on Monday 10, at 6:00, a projection of the documentary of FETE-UGT (“The Masters of the Republic”) will take place in the Lecture of the Cultural Centre “La Nau” in the University of Valencia. This documentary has won a Goya Film Academy award, at the 28th edition of Spanish Academy Goya Awards held last Sunday.
Directed by Pilar Perez Solano, the documentary aims to show us, through the recreation of a woman teacher of that time and images or unpublished archives, the legacy left by republican female teachers which has lasted through to our time. The documentary, which has been articulated based on testimonies of researchers and relatives, allow us to know the historical moment those teachers lived and their participation in the social transformation of our country through education. Their lives supposed, with no doubts, an example of struggle for education, justice and gender equality.
On the occasion of the documentary projection and in order to present it, a roundtable will be held, which will count with the participation of Carlos López Cortiñas, Secretary General of FETE UG T (Federation of Education Workers; General Union of Workers); Carlos Celda Muñoz, Secretary General FETE UGT (UV); Carmen Agulló Diaz, Professor of Theory and History of the Education at the UV and partaker in the documental; Guillermo Marti Peris, Secretary General FETE UGT-PV (Federation of Education Workers; General Union of Workers ; Valencian Country)and Javier González Zurita, secretary of Communication FETE UGT-PV. The roundtable will be introduced and moderated by the Vice-principal of Culture and Equality of the UV, Antonio Ariño.
