The University of Valencia's Debate Forum and the "Casa de Chile" of Valencia will pay homage today, Wednesday 26 June, to Salvador Allende (Valparaíso, 1908 - Santiago de Chile, 1973) because of the 40th anniversary of his death. The Chilean politician, leader of the Socialist Party, was the president of Chile from 1970 to the coup d'état directed by the general Augusto Pinochet on 11 September 1973, when he died in the bombing of "La Moneda" by the Junta's Armed Forces.
The event "40th anniversary of Savador Allende's death" will take place in the main hall of the cultural centre "La Nau" at 19 p.m. It will count on the speeches of the writer and journalist Mario Amorós; Óscar Soto, Savador Allende's personal doctor; Fernando Llagaria, from the Salvador Allende's homage organising commission; and the writer, journalist and responsible of the Debate Forum, Alfons Cervera.
The enclosure has a limited capacity and free entry.
