The company Genia Global Energy, located at the Universitat de València’s Parc Científic, has promoted and developed the biggest photovoltaic power project in the French region of Charente-Maritime. It is the largest plant and the one with the highest power among the parks connected to the French electricity distribution system (ERDF) in 2011. The plant is in the town of Saint-Leger, in the province of Charente-Maritime (Atlantic coast).
The park is situated in a 23-17 hectares land and the project generates a power of 12,4 million KWh per year, which will provide electricity to 5,000 houses and will avoid more than 4,100,000 TCo2 emissions to the atmosphere. The solar plant, which is now built and working, is worth more than 30 million Euros coming from the investment fund ABRAXA IFS-LONGSOL. The multinational TSK was in charge of the works and the company Eosol assisted the technical direction.
Genia Global Energy is a company devoted to the comprehensive management of energy, specialized in the development of innovative solutions to implement, manage and exploit renewable energies and efficiently manage the conventional ones. It was created a year ago with an initial capital of 600,000 Euros and it has grown more that 700% up to present. It focuses on internationalization and R&D&I projects.
It carries out R&D&I actions in the technologies applied to renewable energies field aimed at improving the efficiency of generation systems. Regarding to solar plants energy improvement, it focuses on cooling processes for solar modules in order to have a better performance of the working plants.
According to Carlos Sánchez Piera, business development manager of Genia Global Energy, ‘the research on the efficiency and improvement of renewable energies related technologies is vital to keep on improving the business development in the energy area.’ ‘There is no future without renewable energies, and countries like Germany are against nuclear power stations.
