A tribute to the author Teodor Llorente on the centenary of his death was rendered yesterday, the 1st December, by the Interuniversity Institute of Valencian Philology (IIFV). Teodor Llorente Olivares (1836-1911) is considered the most important poet during the historical period called Valencian Renaixença. The Department of Catalan Philology has collaborated in the organization of this tribute, which had an academic event in the morning and a literary one in the afternoon. This literary event consisted of a reading of some of Llorente’s poetry by the writer Josep Piera.

The academic event started at 10:00 at the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication and it received the IIFV’s manager, Ferran Cargó, and the lecturers Ramon Rosselló and Rafael Roca. Josep Massot, Margalida Tomàs, Felip Martel and Rafael Roca gave each a lecture throughout the morning.

At 19:00, at the Auditori Montaner in the residence hall Lluís Vives, the poetry reading ‘Piera diu Llorente’ organized by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture, Planning and Equality’s Aula de Poesia and Aula de Música is scheduled.
