The members of the University Association Amics i Antics Alumnes (Friends and Former Students) have been invited, through a new proposal for July, inside the cycle Ruta de los pueblos (Route of Villages), to visit the area of Los Molinos and to enjoy of the observation of stars. The UV association has organized five activities for next month, among these activities there will also be a visit to the medieval village of Lliria and walks around the city of Valencia.
Friends and Former Students will go to the village of Alcublas, in first place, and to the village Los Molinos, in second place. The rural walk, which will take place on 5 July, has been organized in order to observe the stars through telescopes and with the explanations of the astronomer Antoni Baldó. The participants, also, will have an evening meal in the countryside with sandwiches and pastries.
Another option for the same day, inside the ‘Ruta de los Pueblos’, is to visit the medieval village of Lliria. It consists on an original visit which will finish with an exquisite dinner in the countryside. During the walk, the visitants will go through the most important monuments of the city, such as the Arab Baths, the ancient medieval hospital, the Archeological Museum and La Sang (the church of the Reconquest), for instance.
Valencia, inside and outside
The walks around Valencia complete the July activities, which have been organized with the collaboration of Fil-per-Randa, a Travel Club. On this occasion three trips are planned. On 4 July, the Association will start the month recalling the Valencian classic of the 15th Century with an homage to Ausias March, which will take place in the Botanical Garden of the UV.
On 12 July the last visits will be made. ‘Mitos y creencias de Valencia’ (Valencian Myths and Beliefs) consists on taking a tour around Valencia’s legendary tales, borrowed as well as autochthonous, about ancient and contemporary Gods, fictions that seem realities or truths that are amazing. Myths of the wall and of the water or Jesus Christ’s miraculous journey are some examples. Mythology (pagan, Christian or illustrated) will gain especial prominence through architectures and images, as happens with the foundation of the Roman Valentia or the feminine goddess of the Antiquity.
Moreover, on 12 July, Friends and Former Students will move to the Valencian Jewish neighborhood to visit the area that occupies El Call Judio Valencian’s Jewish district, the ancient cemetery, the synagogues and Joan Lluís Vives’ house. Besides, visitants will know the Jewish way of living and its social organization.
The first registration period, for the homage to Ausias Mach, started on 17 June.
