Aniceto Masferrer, profesor of History of Law at the University of Valencia, has been named member of the Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación (Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation) at the plenary session of December. Masferrer is board member of the Comité Valenciá per a Assumptes Europeus (Valencian Committee for European Affairs), a consultative body in charge of advising and realizing studies and proposals to improve the participation in European issues and for planning strategic actions of the Valencian Country.
Aniceto Masferrer obtained from ANECA the accreditation of Full University Professor of History of Law on 25 October. Currently, he is also President of the Social Studies and Interdisciplinary Group (GESI-Fundació Universitas); Director of the Institute of Social, Political and Legal Studies; Director of the journal GLOSSAE. European Journal of Legal History; and President of the European Society for Comparative Legal History, a scientific European society formed by historians of law with members of many countries around the world, particularly from Europe and the United States.
The Professor of the University has participated in several international research projects, among them the one lead by the professors John Bell and David Ibbetson (University of Cambridge), the results of which were published in several volumes titled Comparative Studies in the Development of the Law of Torts in Europe (Cambridge University Press, 2010-2012).
Masferrer also lead a research project about Seguridad y Derechos humanos en la lucha contra el terrorismo desde una perspective histórica y comparada, in which participated more than thirty researchers from Spanish, European, North American, Canadian and Australian universities. A part of the results of this study have been already published in two collective works, one in Spain (Thomson-Aranzadi, 2011) and one in Germany (Springer, 2012). The third will be published this year by the British publisher Edward Elgar Publishing.
