Antonio Ariño, vice-principal of Culture and Equality of the UV, is the new executive vice-president of the General Foundation of the UV. Antonio Ariño replaces Silvia Barona in the position, after the integration of the new Rector’s Council of the UV. Antonio Ariño’s appointment was decided during a meeting of the Foundation held last 10 April. The president of the General Foundation is the Principal Esteban Morcillo and Maria Jose Añon occupies the secretary’s position of the UV.

Antonio Ariño is chair professor of Sociology in the Faculty of Social Sciences of the UV. His research focuses on the field of the Sociology of Culture, Welfare Policies and Sociological Theory. He received the National Award of Research “La ciudad ritual” (Antrophos), in English (The Ritual City. Anthropos). Currently, he is the director of the Observatory of Participation and Life Condition of the University students (ECoViP). He has gained recognition for four decades of Research.

As for his educational activity, he has taught the subjects of General Sociology, Sociology Theory and Culture Sociology. Also, he has taught in the Master’s Degree of Cultural Management and in the Master's Degree in Social and Health Care in Dependency. He has gained recognition for 25 teaching years.

He was director of the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology (1997-2003), vice-principal of Studies and Academic Organization (1998-2003), vice-principal of European Convergence and Quality (2006-2010), vice-principal of Planning and Equality (2010-2012) and vice-principal of Culture and Equality (2012-2014), position that he still holds today in the new Management Council of the UV. Also, he was vice-president of the Spanish Federation of Sociology. He is also a member of the senate of the UV.
