The Association of Friends and Former Students of the University of Valencia presents a new website. It is already adapted to the web environment of the University General Foundation, as well as the web content server. In this way, Friends and Former Students, which is currently accessible at http://www.uv.es/amics, is added, together with the General Foundation, to the institutional image of the university.
On the one hand, Friends and Former Students' web has improved the interface and now it has become more visible, specific and accessible. On the other hand, with the new web manager, web usability has been optimized.
By clicking home, users access the homepage with latest news produced by the foundation, which introduces an agenda with the schedule of activities. The menu, on the top-level of the web, is formed by the presentation of Friends and Former Students, with a history from the creation of the collective, belonging to the Federación de Asociaciones de Amigos y Antiguos Alumnos de España: Alumni España; advantages and discounts, where common advantages for the university community and the exclusive for members are described, with a list of the collaborating companies that offer their products at different price –this last section, finds itself in a specific entry with companies classified according to the sector–; Become a friend, to sign up as a member –with the new web, the sing up process facilitates the self-management from anywhere via Internet–, moreover, a new section has been incorporated to solve the most common questions; finally, it provides contact details (address, telephone number, email...) of the group.
Among other changes, there is also a specific access to Training Courses and direct access to publications and services of the university, such as La Nau, the digital newspaper InfoUniversitat, Mètode magazine and La Tenda. Moreover, it also maintains two fixed sections: Do you know that...?, in which the group disseminates the information about their activitieseither at national and international level; and What do you think?, where users can answer online surveys.
Private area and picture gallery
The new website has a private area where users can log in their private account inmediately. With the email address and pasword users can update personal data, enrol on different activities, consult the fee payment and access the collective number that corresponds to Amics i Antics Alumnes de la Universitat de València within the websites of the different collaborating companies .
On the other hand, Friends and Former Students continues on relying on the picture gallery. A tool, now more accessible and attractive, for participants to share their experiences by publishing their pictures. Pictures will be sent by mail to amics@uv.es.
A progressive adaptation
As Friends and Former Students, the Patronat Martínez Guerricabeitia also presents a new webpage accessible at http://www.uv.es/pmg. In this way, users adaptation to the university web environment will be progressive during the current academic year.
