
Professor of Molecular Nutrition and Metabolism at the University of Cambridge, Antonio Vidal-Puig has been the protagonist in the Excellence Meeting of Biomedicine to has been held in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Valencia. The Valencian Vidal-Puig, also director of the Research Laboratories Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge University, has given a lecture entitled 'Redesigning the future of biomedical research'.
The event-organized by VLC/Campus Valencia International Campus of Excellence (UV, UPV and CSIC) and Incliva Health Research Institute, in collaboration with the Chair for Scientific Dissemination UCC+i of the University of Valencia, has concluded with a research workshop with the participation of scientists and students from the health area of international experience.
Antonio Vidal-Puig graduated in Medicine at the University of Valencia, completed his doctorate at the University of Granada and has focused his career on the study of how body fat excess is toxic to health. In fact, Vidal-Puig's research explores the molecular mechanisms of insulin resistance induced by lipid. Currently, in addition to his chair at the University of Cambridge and the direction of Addenbrooke hospital laboratories, he is director of the Center for Obesity and Associated Diseases and director of Cambridge Phenomics Centre.
