Capella de Ministers acts today Friday 27 June, at 23;30, at the Cultural Centre La Nau, within the festival Serenates framework, organized jointly by the UV and the Music Section CulturArts Generalitat. The Valencian band, directed by the viola da gamba player Carles Magraner, proposes an instrumental programme which will approach the audience to the rhythms danced in the Alfonso the Magnanimous’ Court.
The Serenatas festival has the support of the Palau de la Muisca of Valencia, the Valencian local Government (Department of Youth), Banco Sabadell Foundation and the Cruzcampo Foundation of the Heineken Group.
The entrance to the concert is free with an invitation, which can we collected before the beginning of the concert in the reception of La Nau.
With “Quattrocento: music and dancing of the 15th Century in the Crown of Aragon”, Capella de Ministrers restores the dancing of the Alfonso the Magnanimous’ Court in Naples. A music style for a huge instrumental education in dancing, of the song book of Montecassino and of musicians linked to Aragonese Courts in Naples and also anonymous dances of the treaties of Piacenza or Cornazno, whose choreographies are still conserved. The “Quattrocento” is one of the most important periods of the European artistic panorama. The Quattrocento took place throughout the entire 15th Century and it was also the cradle of eh Renascence. Back to the unified Italy of the 15th Century, art, dance and music, represented the ostentation boasting the leaders’ power before other regions.
From its creation in the year 1987, the group Capella de Ministrers, under the direction of Carles Magraner, has developed an important researching and musicologist task in favour of the Spanish musical heritage, from the Middle Ages to the 19th Century. The outcome, transformed into musical testimony, perfectly combines three key factors: the historic rigor, the musical sensitivity and, very especially, an uncontrollable desire to communicate and make us participate in these experiences. The group has acted in the main national stages and festivals and it has also made international tours around France, Belgium Romany, Portugal, Holland, Egypt, Italy, Germany, Morocco, Poland, Tunisia, Argentina, Brazil, the United States, Mexico, Finland, Austria, Cuba, China, Croatia, etc.
The group has recorded CDs for EGT, Blau, Audivis and CDM (its exclusive recording label), which have been awarded with prizes of the specialized press and from the Ministry of Culture to the best record producing activities, and the prize Importante of Editorial Valencian Press. Important leading figures such as the Nobel Prize Vargas Losa, the chef Ferran Adrià or the writer Espido Freire have collaborated in the group’s recording works.
