Carlos Taibo stands up for a future based on growthn, at a conference at La Nau

Carlos Taibo.

Tomorrow, 13th May, Carlos Taibo, professor of Political Sciences and Administration at the Autonomous University of Madrid, will offer at La Nau the conference titled “Defending growth”. The talk will take place at Aula Magna, of the historical building of the Universitat and will be perfomed within the framework of the Fòrum de Debats programming, with the collaboration of AMA (Spanish acronym for: Environmental Association and Climate Change).

With the slogan of “less is more”, Taibo defends that the only future is growth. We cannot keep on producing at the expense of the limited sources of the planet. Decreasing is necessary and it means a change of values in a world in which  improvement of the crisis provoked other debates instead of responding to what is important: climate change or social inequalities.

Taibo deals with this change of paradigm “Defending growth” (Editorial Catarata, 2009). Furthermore, he is the author of twenty books, in Spanish, related to the transitions in the contemporary Central and Eastern Europe. Among them, there are “Gorbachev's Soviet Union” (Fundamentos, Madrid, 1989), “The military in the crisis of the Soviet system” (Catarata, Madrid, 993), “Crisis and change in Easter Europe” (Alianza, Madrid, 1995), “The political transition in Eastern Europa” (Centro de Estudios Constitucionales, Madrid, 1996; together with Carmen González), “The transitions in Central and Easter Europe” (Catarata, Madrid, 1998), “The Soviet explosion” (Espasa, Madrid, 2000), “ The breakup of Yugoslavia” (Catarata, Madrid, 2000), “War in Kosova. A study on the engineering of hate” (Catarata, Madrid, 2001), “The conflicto of Chechenia” (Catarata, Madrid, 2005), “Russia in Putin’s era” (Catarata, Madrid, 2006), “History of the Soviet Union”, 1917-1991” (Alianza, Madrid, 2010) and “Russia against Ukraine.
