The cardio respiratory arrest is an emergency situation which needs the quickest response. It entails the highest risk for our society.

The most frequent cause for a cardio respiratory arrest in non hospitalised adults is the ventricular fibrillation. This represents the 80% of the cardiac-linked sudden deaths and requires immediate attention. The semiautomatic defibrillator is a simple and safe device that recognizes de presence or absence of cardiac rhythm. This is why the national and international scientific communities encourage the use of these devices by non-medical staff. This people need to be, nevertheless, properly trained to implement basic cardio pulmonary resuscitation and immediate defibrillation until de emergency services come.
