
Ernest Cano has been elected new Dean of Universitat de València’s Facultat de Ciències Socials. In the elections celebrated on February 22th, Cano was the only candidate and he gained 41 votes in favor and 3 blank votes. Cano is going to replace Ignasi Lerma as the faculty’s Dean.
The new Dean’s team will be made up of Elena García Testal (centre’s secretary), Mª Eugenia González Sanjuán (Vice-dean for studies), Elvira Marí Poveda (Vice-dean for external relations), Lorenzo Revuelto Taboada (Vice-dean for academic arrangement and postgraduate courses), Inmaculada Verdeguer Aracil (Vice-dean for culture, participation and equality), and Rafael Castelló Cogollos (centre’s president of the quality committee).
Ernest Cano is a tenured lecturer of applied economy and has been working at Facultat de Ciències Socials since it was created. He studied economy and business science and got a PhD in economy at Universitat de València. He has been a lecturer since 1990, specially of subjects related to work-related economy, labor market and employment policies. He is a member of Unidad de Investigación Economía y Política Laboral and has developed several research projects and papers on precarious employmeny or work conditions, among other study fields.
He is a member of the university senate representing the Facultat de Ciències Socials, member of the Governing Council representing the university senate, and he has been Vice-dean of the same faculty in the last two terms of office as well.
