
Ester Alba Pagán, lecturer of history of art is the new Dean of the Universitat de València’s Facultat de Geografia i Història. She has gained 28 votes, while the other candidate, Francisco Gimeno Blay, has got 19. There has been 2 blank votes. The new Dean’s team will be made up of MªLuz Mandingorra, Mª Dolores Pitarch, Nuria Tabanera and Jorge A. Catalá.
She has been Vice-dean for students and exchange students programmes -institutional coordinator of Erasmus or Sicue programees. She is also member of the centre’s board and of the university senate.
She got a mention when she finished her degree in 1997, another one in 1998 for her academic performance, and the mention for the best doctorate student in 1995. She has been a lecturer in the Departament d’Història de l’Art; lecturer and head of studies in the master’s degree on cultural patrimony; and lecturer in the master’s degree on history of art and visual culture, which earned a quality award from the Spanish Ministry of Education.
Her research lines are focused on the Spanish contemporary paintings, art criticism and museology, especially the XIX century’s. She has been part of several research projects under the Universitat de València, but also has been part in some projects when she stayed as a visiting researcher at La Sorbonne (Paris I – Centre Ledoux), Università Frederic II di Napoli, Università degli studi di Palermo or at the history institute of CSIC. From 2001, she is working on a research that tries to study and promote the Valencian patrimony inside the ambit of the research projects prometed by Facultat de Geografia i Història.
