The exhibition ‘La Universitat de València i els seus entorns naturals: El Parc Natural de L’Albufera’ (Universitat de València and its nature parks: L’Albufera’s nature reserve) started last February 16th and can be visited until next February 29th at Jardí Botànic. This initiative commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Albufera’s declaration as nature reserve. In the exhibition’s presentation, which was held at 13:00, the professor María Rosa Miracle and William Colom, president of Acció Ecologista-Agró, took part, along with the Vice-principal, Jorge Hermosilla, and the UV’s Principal, Esteban Morcillo.
Organized by the Office of the Vice-Principal for territorial projection and participation, the exhibition can be visited simultaneously with the Acció Ecologista-Agró’s exhibition, titled ‘El Parc Natural de L’Albufera. Una història mal contada’. This one has been backed by the same office as well.
The Universitat de València’s exhibition is made up of 25 panels by different lecturers and researchers, nature reserve’s technicians and experts. These exhibition panels tackle a wide, heterogeneous range of topics: a lake formation process, its fauna and flora, the pollution problems, the water quality improvement, the economic activities carried out in this context, among others.
In its turn, the exhibition organized by Acció Ecologista-Agró is focused on the citizen’s mobilization that prevented the natural park from the urban planning in the 70’s and 80’s. These actions culminated in the declaration of L’Albufera as nature reserve.
A round table is scheduled for next February 23rd to discuss the subject ‘El Saler per al poble: història, present i futur’ (19:00 at Jardí Botànic).
