
Federico Pallardó, full professor in physiology, has been appointed Dean of Facultat de Medicina i Odontologia. Pallardó was the only candidate in the elections and he had 48 votes in favour and four blank votes. The new Dean takes the place of Antonio Pellicer.
The new Dean’s team is made up of Concha López, Miguel Cerdá, Miguel Ángel Sanz, Guillermo Sáez, Montserrat Catalá, Luis Aparicio and Marisa Guillem.
Federico Vicente Pallardó Calatayud was born in Valencia on April 6th 1961. He is a full professor in physiology since 2000 at Universitat de València. He worked at Oxford and Harvard universities for several years and he was a visiting lecturer at North Chicago University. Pallardó is member of some national and international scientific entities. In fact, he was secretary of the Society for Free Radical Research (SFRR) and member of its executive committee for several years.
In 2009, he was awarded the Fundació Salut 2000 national prize for his research on rare diseases. His studies focus on the implications of oxidative stress in the physiology of rare diseases. He has supervised 14 doctoral theses and published more than 130 papers and book chapters at an international level such as ‘The Lancet’, ‘JAMA’, ‘Journal of Clinical Investigation’ and ‘FASEB Journal’, among others.
His Hirsch index is 34 and he has more than 3,700 bibliographic citations.
In Valencia, he has been director of the Facultat de Medicina i Odontologia’s Unitat Central d’Investigació (central unit for medical research) and coordinator of Línea de Metabolisme i Dany orgànic in the Fundació per a la Investigació de l'Hospital Clínic de València (INCLIVA). Up to now, he was Vice-dean for economic affairs and research.
