First Winter School of the Universitat de València / FON University of Macedonia

The first Winter School of the Universitat de València / FON University of Macedonia has been set up at the campus of the FON University of Skopje (Macedonia) this Monday. The conferences begin with ‘Nuevas Tecnologías y Buen Gobierno: Retos y Oportunidades para el Siglo XXI’. The initiative is included in the bilateral cooperation agreement signed by the Universitat de València and the University of Macedonia.

The teaching staff of the Winter School, moved on purpose to Skopje, comprises five of the most highlighted professors of the Faculty of Law of the Universitat de València; especially, Carlos Flores Juberías (Constitutional Law), Rodolfo Hernández (Political Economics), Esther Machancoses García (Tax Law), Ricard Martínez (Transparency Service of Valencian Provincial Council) and  Frederick Mertens de Wilmars (Philosophy of Law), who will develop five courses with thirty global hours of teaching.

Through this intense programming of lessons, students, mostly Macedonian but also Turks and people originating from the region, could have access to a wide range of critical subjects for their training such as lawyers and judges, public servants or civil service positions, public administrators or active citizens.  The selection of these courses will allow to analyse the opportunities that new technologies offer to make more clear, responsible and participatory the governability, but also the menaces that suggests about civil liberties and the necessary restriction of the government.

After the first experience, the first Winter School of the Universitat de València / FON University of Macedonia will be held in Valencia in July 2017.
