Full professor Rafael Peris Bonet appointed member of the scientific committe of ACCIS devoted to the international research and the prevention of cancer.

Professor Rafael Peris Bonet, in charge of the Registro Nacional de Tumores Infantiles (RNTI-SEHOP), the national record of children’s tumour, has been appointed member of the scientific committee of ACCIS. ACCIS stands for Automated Childhood Cancer Information System and belongs to the International Agency for Research on Cancer. ACCIS provides and interprets data on the impact and survival of cancer in children and adolescents in Europe.

The national record of children’s tumours (RNTI-SEHOP) is located at the University of Valencia’s Departamento de Historia de la Ciencia y Documentación (department of Science History and Information Science) of the Faculty of Medicine. This record does epidemiologic reserach to help children suffering from cancer in Spain. It contributes to spread the information about cancer in our country as well as its causes. The record’s main activities are centered in studying the survival and effects of children’s cancer in Spain.


The RNTI-SEHOP is a cooperative project between the Sociedad Española de Hematología y Oncología Pedriáticas (the Spanish society of children’s haematology and oncology), SEHOP, and the University of Valencia. Children’s oncology units of all hospitals in Spain report cancer cases to the record. The RNTY-SEHOP is mostly financed by the Spanish association against cancer and its scientific foundation; by the Fundació Villavecchia, and by other competitive projects.
