Gonzalo Moliner, who has a degree in Law and is a former lecturer of Universitat de València, appointed new Head of the Judiciary and the Supreme Court

Last Tuesday, July 17th, Gonzalo Moliner Tamborero, who finished a degree in Law from Universitat de València in 1969 and is a former lecturer at this institution, was appointed Head of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) and the Supreme Court. He received twelve votes out of twenty, which is the minimum necessary to be appointed. This event has taken place at the third meeting of the CGPJ.

The new head of CGPJ has had a forward-looking nature from the beginning of his career, which he has particularly devoted to labour law. In fact, Moliner was an adjunct lecturer at Universitat de València for the department of labour and social security law. He also was part of the constituent assembly of the Asociación de Jueces para la Democracia in 1983.

He was appointed president of the social court in the Higher Court in 2008, but he was a judge of this social court from 1998. He is a member of the governing body of the High Court since 2004.

Moliner has been a magistrate in the social court of Valencia and magistrate in the social court of the Supreme Court of the Valencian Community (TSJCV).

Lecturer Carlos Alfonso, full profesor of labour work and former colleage of Gonzalo Moliner has stressed his human virtues and professionality. He has described him as ‘someone respected by all the judicial sectors. Everybody respects his professionality. He is a progressive.’
