
Facultat de Filologia, Traducció i Comunicació and the Delegation for University Integration organized the 3rd classical languages Olympics. This Olympics’ goal was to promote the study of these languages and culture among young people, reward academic excellence and be used as a meeting point for secondary education teaching and the university.
This third Olympics’ edition was intended at a regional level. 87 upper secondary school’s students, from public and private centres in the Valencian Community, took part in the contest. The exam was held last March 31st at Facultat de Filologia, Traducció i Comunicació.
The classical languages Olympics’ winners are:
Rocío Giménez Zalvez, IES nº 1; Requena; Elías Miguel González-Camacaro Scarangella, IES Sorolla (València); Valentí Martí Sansaloni, IES Joan Llopis Marí (Cullera); Guillermo López Juan, IES Berenguer Dalmau (Catarroja); Leonardo Bernal Sánchez, IES Senda (Quart de Poblet); and Jorge Colomer Villalba, IES Guadassuar.
The awards ceremony took place last May 4th in Facultat de Filologia, Traducció i Comunicació’s Sala Enric Valor. The prize covers 2012-2013 course fees in any of the degrees of Universitat de València. The winners already awarded with free registration fees by other means will gain a grant to buy books for their studies.
Carles Padilla, Dean of the Faculty; Jordi Sanchis and Concepción Ferragut, Olympics’ coordinators; Carmen Morenilla, director of the Departament de Filologia Clàssica; and María José Carchano, delegate for University Integration, attended the awards ceremony.
