The Instrumental Group review the musical biography of its conductor, Joan Cerveró, with a concert which is made up of his works titled 'Minimal & Thatre Music' that will count on the Societat Musical L’ Artesana de Catarroja's intervention and which is part of the Serenades Festival organised by the University of Valencia and CulturArt. The concert, today Monday, at 22:30 at 'La Nau'.

"In general, it deals with music whose origin is the scene directed by Carlos Alfaro, with the exception of the pieces 'Water music', 'Paris' and 'Tosca-remix', this one is a first release. Minimalism, the last musical post-modernism's important trend, has been one of the greatest influences in my compositions", explains Cerveró

Besides integrating the band, referencing the origins of the Instrumental Group as well as its conductor, the concert pays an homage to the authors who have "inspirated and accompanied (him) in this musical adventure, essential references" for his way of understanding music.

"Embed" , among Cerveró works, the Group presents different pieces of classical music: Concert's Adagio for piano in G mayor of Maurice Ravel, Mozart's Quintet's Larghetto for  clarinet and the choral Johann S. Bach's Ich ruf zu Dir, Herr Jesu Christ, BWV 639, and a piece of John Cage's "Dream"

"Water music", inspired in an homonim poem of the Valencian poet Jimi Siles, was performed for the first time at the Ensems Festival in 1986, "music heir of the minimalism of the 70' and John Cage's poetry and thinking"

Waltz und Tango belongs to the original soundtrack of the Woyzeck de Georg Büchner's work, directed by Carles Alfaro in 1993 and premiered in "L'Espai Moma", a piece "full of suggestion to the European music between the wars.

The Group interprets a piece of the ballet's music Shuei, produced and interpreted by the company Gracel Meneu's Vianants, which meant "the beginningof a new era for the Valencian dance and which was selected for the Bienal of Young Creators of the Mediterranean hel in Bologna (Italy) in 1989".

"Entre els porcs" is a scene music of the work "A place with the pigs" of the South African Athol Fugard, also conducted by Carles Alfaro in 1989 and interpreted by Pep Cortés and Neus Agulló. "In this case it is heard the sound of the pigs mixed with a small violin piece, transformed through the electronics, and which finishes with the interpretation of the Russian National Anthem".

The Group offers a part of Paris -'without accute accent'- a work ordered for the Tramesa d'Art Festival in favour of the Creativity, conducted by Josep Pérez Montaner and which was holden in the Palau de la Musica de Valencia in 1987. It was interpreted again at the Bienal of the Mediterranian in Barcelona"

L'alte món "is a selection of music token from the original soundtrack of the Voltaire's Candide or the optimism, also directed by Alfaro and which was performed in different theatres of Spain. The sheet music obtained the national award Daniel Montorio for a scene composition, given by the SGAE and one of a kind in its speciality".

Estances is the result of the scene music of Molière's "The School for Wives", directed by Alfaro and interpreted by Lluís Homar, Cristina Plazas and Joan Carreras among others. It was performed for the first time in the Catalonia National Theatre in 2003 and it is based on a procedure used frequently in the scene music, the leit-motiv. The play was presented, with a new version adapted for a concert, in 2012 as a coreography for the Theatres' Ballet of the Generalitat.

The piece which closes the concert, Tosca-Remix is a novelties' exercise as a dialogue is set out amongthe music's band, the Intrumental Group and some DJ and percussion interventions, with the process of production, interpretation, almost in live"

For doing that, it will be transformed, mixed, improvised, unexpected musical situations will be produced which will be 'extracted' froma procession march based on themes of the Tosca Opera. The work can be a trully madness, a creative experiment, an adventure that surely will mark a new direction in our way of perceiving music as a creation which is unpredictable, as always was", concludes Cerveró
