Jordi Julià Garriga wins the IV Essay Prize of the Josep Lluís Blasco Chair

Jordi Julià Garriga, professor of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, is the winner of the IV Essay Prize of the Josep Lluís Blasco Chair, which has been granted on Wednesday at the Office of the Principal of the Universitat de València. Jordi Julià has won with his work ‘L’autor sense ombra’ (‘The author without shadow’).

The principal, Esteban Morcillo, has been the one in charge of giving the award, which consists of 6.000 euros and that entails the publication of the work by Publicacions de la Universitat de València.  In the ceremony, among others, were present the vice-principal for Training Policies and Education Quality, Ramón López;  the dean of Philosophy, Jesús Alcolea; and the director of the Chair, Tobies Grimaltos.

The Josep Lluís Blasco Estellés Chair of Philosophy and Citizenship is an initiative of the Philosophical Society of the Valencian Country, of the Department of Metaphysics and Theory of Knowledge, of the Section of Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy and Education Sciences and of the Faculty thereof. The mission of the chair is constituting a forum in which the two highest vocations of Josep Lluís Blasco, the philosophical and the civic and citizen, have an area of confluence. The objective is to approach the philosophy to the people by putting forward the social problems to the reflection of the philosophers and pass on this reflection to society.
