José Ugaz, president of Transparency International, in La Nau on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day

On Wednesday, 9 December, it is the International Anti-Corruption Day. To celebrate this day, La Nau Cultural Centre holds a conference by José Ugaz, president of Transparency International and special attorney in different corruption cases, such as that case which ended with the sentence of the Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori and his consultant Vladimiro Montesinos. Ugaz will give the conference titled “‘La lucha contra la corrupción en las democracias avanzadas” (The fight against corruption in developed democracies), at 19:00 at the Aula Magna of La Nau. Free entrance until reaching the capacity of the room.

The conference is organised by the Valencian Department of Transparency, Social Responsibility, Participation and Cooperation, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Equality of the Universitat de València. This act aims to raise awareness among citizens about the implications transparency has a basic element in the developed democracies and its role in the prevention of corruption cases and the government’s bad practices.
