Pasajes publishes a new report on intellectual property. It is one of the basic topics of public debate in which different perspectives are interwined, such as access to culture, copyright respect, cultural industries financing or the effect of communication new technologies.
As the leader of this issue states: ‘there is no doubt that we are in the middle of a social debate where more than arbitrary opinions or too specific interests are at stake. The future development of a feasible economy and its new sectors will probably depend on the settling and display of the knowledge society. A key to this is the conferring and recognition of copyrights. Nowadays, the copyright concept presents many and complex profiles considering that individual authors and vast industrial frameworks coexist.
Coordinated by professor Guillermo Quintás, the report Propiedad intelectual, un debate crucial (Copyright, a crucial debate) includes articles by many experts. The coordinator reflects on the copyright problems within the current world, while Gillermo Palao focuses on the Spanish situation. Oreste Montalto explores the economical dimension of copyright and Marcos Wachowicz analizes the legislative changes to this respect in Brazil. Finally, Antoni Furió goes over the history of copyright, from the emergence of this legal concept as an asset worthy of protection to present.
This new issue of Pasajes includes two interviews to Ángel Viñas and Paul Preston by Mario Amorós, where they talk about their recen publications and findinds related to the Spanish civil war and Franco repression. More over, there are articles by the philosopher J. L. Moreno Pestaña and by the sociologist Gil-Manuel Hernández, the first writes about the 15-M Movement and the argument dynamics of its meetings, and the second talks about ideological trends in this globalization era. A wide section of review closes this new of Pasajes, a joint publication by Universitat de València and Fundación Cañada Blanch.
