“El singular lenguaje de las crónicas deportivas” is the title of the conference that will be given on Friday, 23 October, by the journalist Julián García Candau at the official opening ceremony of the academic year in Ontinyent. The session starts at 12:00 at the Teatro Echegaray of the city.
During the ceremony, the principal of the Universitat de València, Esteban Morcillo; the president of Caixa Ontinyent; and the president of the Fundación Campus Ontinyent and the Valencian Council, and mayor of Ontinyent, Jorge Rodríguez, will also participate.
Julián García Candau was born in Villareal. He is a journalist with a large professional career specialised in sports. He has been a parliamentary journalist working in the newspaper “El País”, he served as chief of the sports section in the newspaper “Ya”, Agencia EFE and Televisión Española.
He is the author of several books such as “Épica y lírica del deporte”, “La moral del Alcoyano” and “Celos, amor y muerte. Pasiones y Tragedias del toreo”, and he directed courses on sports at the universities Menéndez y Pelayo and Rey Juan Carlos.
He was awarded with numerous prices, such as “Víctor de la Serna” of the Press Association of Madrid, he has been awarded with the Silver Medal for Sports Merit and the Gold Medal “Barón de Coubertin” of the International Olympic Committee.
