Journalist Rosa Solbes and cultural activist Albert Sanchez-Pantoja are the winners of the XIV Vincent Ventura awards, created to honor the memory of the political and civic fighter journalist who died in 1998. This award is given to individuals or groups that have distinguished their civic career and democratic engagement with the culture and language of Valencia. The award consists of a sculpture of Sebastian Miralles.

The organising committee and jury consists of the University of Valencia, University Jaume I, people who maintained a close relationship with Vincent Ventura, and CCOO STEPV, UGT, the Unió de Llauradors i Ramaders and the Valencian Journalists Union.

Rosa Solbes, born in Alacant, came to Valencia in 1974 to work as editor of the weekly economic publication 'Valencia Fruits', which she combined with being correspondent of 'La Verdad' and collaborator in 'Ya'. She led the progressive magazine 'Dos i Dos'. Later in the the 80s, she was chief editor of 'Valencia semanal', delegate of Interviu, 'El Periódico de Cataluña' and 'Tiempo'. During 1980, 1981 and 1982 she was responsible for political information, reports, supplements and local (on) the 'Diario de Valencia. "From 1983 to 1986 he worked as head of programs in Radiocadena, then editor and news presenter inTVE. In both media she directed and broadcasted for some years the first programs with feminist themes: "Entre nosotras' and 'La otra mitad'.The year 1989 was the first woman director of Radio 9. She served later as press chief of the Ministry of Culture. In recent years she has been editor and publisher of the regional information center of TVE and regular columnist for El País'.

She has written several books about the present, as author and co-author, one of them on women and political power ("Women in Valencia, between the desire and power").His latest book is "Matilde Salvador. Conversations with a passionate writer '(Tandem).She has served on the executive of several civic associations and chaired the Valencian Journalists Union. She is now Vice President of the Valencians for Change Advisory Board member of the Gender Equality Unit of the University of Valencia and the Council of Culture UGT in Valencia. She has just been elected by the Courts member of the Board of Administration of RTVV.

Albert Sanchez-Pantoja was born in Barcelona in 1939. In 1958, his family moved to Castellón.At the University of Valencia he studied industrial engineering, and with such academic background has developed his career in the factory of ceramic Zirconium from Villarreal.

He has always been a political activist and cultural agitator.In 1964, he founded with his friend Frederic Rivas and support of Father Joaquim Amorós the Castellon Group Study ("Catalan" in private) (GCE).The same year he participated in the foundation of the monthly magazine 'Al Vent, el portaveu del GCE' which reached a circulation of 3,000 copies. There were some memorable special editions such as those on the Common Market (with an article by Vincent Ventura) and at the Second Vatican Council.Albert drove the Democratic Union of Valencia in 1977.And in the municipal elections of 1979 militated on the Assembly platform Esquerra independent de Castelló (CIS), in which he was the candidate. EIC was an essential constituent of Esquerra Unida in the Valencian Country, which, by his account, was decisive in the formation of the UPV, then BLOC, and finally Compromís.
